How Our All-in-One Recycling System Works
Single-Stream Recycling
Under the single-stream recycling system, all recyclables go into one cart. The city-provided cart for recycling must remain at the assigned property. The serial number and radio frequency tag help us assign carts to every address.
Using automated trucks, solid waste crews will empty your recycling cart once per week. At the recycling plant, recyclables are separated and bundled for processing. The cost of recycling is already included in your solid waste charge of $20.92.
Upon request, an additional cart will be provided for a $5 charge per month. Place your cart at the curb by 7 am. Place the cart 4 feet away from your garbage cart and all other objects.
Remember, you will be fined $5 per incident if:
- Your recycling cart(s) contains food, animal waste, hazardous waste, garbage waste, electronics, or any other items prohibited.
- Your recycling or garbage cart is left at the curb. Please remove carts by dark on the day following collection.
If You've Got (Lots of) Cardboard
The City can help with that. The City of Bartow Solid Waste Department accepts cardboard from City residents. Boxes should be empty and free of debris and food residue. Drop off at 2060 E Highway 60 Monday through Friday, from 8 am to noon and from 1 to 4 pm.
Please check in at the office prior to drop off. Questions? Call 863-534-0181.
