Batteries
Since 1993, battery manufacturers have no longer added mercury to the alkaline batteries used in most electronics today. AAA, AA, C, D, 6-volt, and 9-volt batteries are no longer classified as hazardous. This means any alkaline battery made after 1993 does not pose a threat to our environment. You may dispose of these with your regular household garbage, placing them in your green cart.
