The following is some basic information about new services to get you started.
Deposits may be required for all new electric and water services. There is a $5 credit application fee to determine the deposit for all residential services. This is a soft credit check (inquiry) and does not affect your credit score. You are required to fill out an application for service, submit a copy of your driver's license, and a copy of your lease, rental or purchase agreement. Business services are required two times the average bill. All new accounts will be assessed a one-time $20 transfer fee in addition to the deposit.
The deposits are held in escrow and can be returned, if requested, after five years with a good credit history, i.e., no late payments. Interest is paid each year on your deposit and is normally applied to the January bill.
