How To Understand Your Bill

  • Previous Balance: This is an unpaid balance or an overpayment brought forward and included in the total amount due. A bill with a previous unpaid balance is subject to cut-off unless arrangements have been previously made.
  • Service Period: Indicates the period between the previous reading date, and current reading date.
  • Meter Number: This is the serial number on the meter which is being billed.
  • Usage: 
    • KWH - Kilowatt Hours
    • MGAL - Thousands of Gallons
  • Other Charges: 
    • FLA GR REC - Florida Gross Receipts is a state tax calculated on electric, demand and power cost multiplied by 2.5641
    • SURCHARGE -County tax for those outside the city limits and is calculated on electric, demand and power cost multiplied by 10%
    • PALS -Private Area Lighting
    • SOLID WASTE -Garbage
  • Delinquency: The bill is due 21 days after it is rendered. Service will be cut-off seven days after the due date. Minimum restoration charge is $20.
  • Reconnection of Service: Reconnection of service will occur after payment consisting of the delinquent balance and all applicable charges for restoration are received.
