Public Works

The Public Works Department, located on the corner of North Wilson Avenue and Church Street conducts routine maintenance, repair, and new construction of the following:

  • City Streets and Sidewalks
  • Water Mains
  • Sewer Mains
  • Stormwater System
  • City-Owned Buildings

GIS/Engineering Division

GIS Engineer Tech Jason Alber

The GIS/Engineering Division is responsible for designing and permitting all proposed water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer projects. They also maintain the utility maps, data, and provide technical support to other divisions and departments. 

Major projects

  • Water and Sewer Modeling (WaterCad and SewerCad)
  • Acquisition of GPS points throughout the city

Transmission & Collection Systems

Manager Robin Casselman

This division is responsible for the maintenance and installation of all water and sanitary sewer systems owned and operated by the City.

Major projects

  • Upgrading service lines to residential accounts
  • Sewer manhole rehabilitation
  • Clay sewer pipe rehabilitation

Streets & Drainage Division

The Drainage Division is responsible for the maintenance of public stormwater systems city wide.

The Streets Division is responsible for the maintenance of public streets and sidewalks city wide.

  • Maintenance of streets and sidewalks
  • Pedestrian safety study for streets and sidewalks
  • Tee Ave. flooding project
  • Banana Ave. flooding project
  • Storm inlet upgrade project
  • 1 million in street surfacing annually

Building Maintenance Division

The Building Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance of all the facilities owned by the City of Bartow.  This division also assists the Parks and Recreation Department with the maintenance of park facilities. 

Major projects

  • Installation of playground equipment and fences at several parks within the City
  • Hamilton Park gazebo and MLK gazebo
  • New Public Works facilities
