FALSE ALARM ORDINANCE

In an effort to curb the high number of false alarm calls for service, the City of Bartow adopted a False Alarm Ordinance in June 21, 1999. This ordinance, 1854-A, requires that alarm users register an alarm system within 30 days of installation, in order to avoid false alarm charges.

Registering your alarm system is FREE! Once registered, you will NOT be charged for the first TWO (2) FALSE ALARMS within a 365 day period.

Once you have registered your alarm, you will NOT be charged for the first two (2) incidents, although there will be a charge for three (3) or more incidents. If your alarm is NOT REGISTERED, and the Police or Fire Department is dispatched to your home or business, the following charges will apply:

FALSE ALARM FEE SCHEDULE

1st       $  25.00
2nd $  50.00
3rd      $  75.00
4th $ 100.00
5th  $ 150.00
6th  $ 200.00
7th $ 300.00
8th $ 300.00

If you receive a notice of violation from the Bartow Police Department or the Bartow Fire Department, you will have TEN (10) days to pay the fine or contact the Code Enforcement Board for a hearing.

For your convenience, you may fill out the form FALSE ALARM REGISTRATION, or you may pick one up at the Bartow Police Department. When the form is completed, return to Bartow Police Department, 450 N. Broadway Ave. Bartow, FL  33830.
