Referred to as ”DNA for your property”, CopDots is a microdot technology that enables consumers to mark their personal assets with a pen-like applicator. Each CopDots pen dispenses a special adhesive, containing thousands of tiny microdots, each marked with a traceable Personal Identification Number (PIN). No two pens contain microdots with the same identifier making every user unique.
Each pen is also registered online by the owner. Once registered in the CopDots database, law enforcement can access the information and identify property owners just by looking up the PIN. When CopDots are seen under a “reader” the rightful owner can be identified, property returned and the thief sent to jail. The goal is for every law enforcement agency in the country to be trained on the technology and gain access to the secure database in order to research the ownership of recovered property in real time.
