FALSE ALARM ORDINANCEFire Alarm Pull Station 1854-A

A false alarm is described as the activation of an alarm system signal or message which elicits a notification to, and/or response by the Bartow Police or Fire Departments when there is no evidence of a crime, fire, medical emergency or other activity which warrants a call for immediate police, fire or medical assistance.

The City of Bartow Alarm Ordinance was implemented in 1999 to address the growing number of false alarm activations within the city. Ordinance 1854-A requires all ALARM USERS within the City Limits of Bartow to register their fire/smoke, robbery, burglary, medical, water flow, panic and/or any audible alarm system with the Bartow Police Department.

Registration is free and should be done within thirty (30) days of active service. Once registered, you will NOT be charged for the first two (2) incidents, although there will be a charge for three (3) or more incidents, within a 12-month period. If your alarm is NOT REGISTERED, and the Police or Fire Department is dispatched to your home or business, the following charges will apply:

If you receive a notice of violation from the Bartow Police Department or the Fire Department, you will have TEN (10) days to pay the fine or contact the Code Enforcement Board for a hearing.

There is NO charge for registering your alarm!
