The officers assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division provide 24 hour a day coverage to protect the life and property of the citizens and visitors of Bartow. The Uniform Patrol Division acts as a first responder to calls for immediate police service providing a timely response to reported crimes in progress. 

Additionally, officers assigned to the division conduct preliminary investigations into crimes over with and identify and apprehend persons suspected of committing crimes. Officers also conduct directed patrols to discourage and prevent the opportunity for crimes to occur and enhance the public's awareness of criminal activity in their community.

The Uniform Patrol Division enforces traffic laws and investigates traffic related crashes in addition to assisting in traffic and pedestrian control. The division strives to be highly visible in the community and accessible to the public at all times, working together to reduce crime in the City Of Bartow.

The Patrol Division Consists of: five (5) sergeants, twenty (20) officers, four (4) K-9 officers, three (3) School Resource Officers, (2) Public Safety Aides.

sgt. hauser Sgt. Luke Hauser began his career with Bartow Police Department in March 2013. He has worked as a Field Training Officer, I.D. Technician, and Traffic Homicide Investigator.

Sgt. Hauser is currently assigned to Charlie Squad.


 sgt. bill stevens
Sgt. William Stevens began his career with Bartow Police Department in 2007 after serving nine (9) years in the United States Army Military Police Corp. as a Staff Sergeant.

Assigned to the Patrol Division from 2007 to 2015, Sgt. Stevens worked as a Field Training Officer and Training Instructor for the Entry Team and served as Officer in Charge (O.I.C.)

In 2015 Sgt. Stevens was transferred to the Detective Bureau where he worked until November 2017 when he was promoted to Sergeant. He is currently assigned to Alpha Squad.

Sgt. Michelle Smith was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2017, becoming the first female Sergeant in history for the City of Bartow Police Department. 

Smith started her career with the Bartow Police Department in 1999 as a Public Safety Aide. After completing Police Standards, she was sworn-in as a police officer and joined the Patrol Division in 2001. 

Also the Department's first female K-9 Handler, she served in that capacity for 13 years, winning many awards and competitions with her K-9 partners. Sgt. Smith served as the Police Explorer Post Advisor, a Traffic Homicide Investigator and as a Field Training Officer.

Smith holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice and is currently enrolled at Webber International University seeking a Master's Degree in Business in Criminal Justice.

 sgt. carl smith Sgt. Carl Smith began working as a Merchant Seaman at the age of 17. After eight years, he took a position with Hillsborough County Detention. 

After completing the necessary training required for law enforcement, Smith came to work at Bartow Police Department in November 1997, where he worked in the Patrol Division for many years. 

Sgt. Smith also worked in the Detective Bureau as an undercover officer and served on the Community Services Team as a Community Service Officer.
