The Fleet Maintenance department is made up of nine full time employees with seven technicians, one administrative assistant, and a department head. Fleet is open Mon.-Fri. 6:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. with a 24 hour on call technician 365 days a year.
Fleet is responsible for overseeing and maintaining all of the city’s light duty, medium duty, heavy duty, construction and industrial equipment, utility and solid waste vehicles and equipment including a small engines and a tire shop. Every vehicle including equipment is on a three month service rotation which includes 15 point safety inspection and a 28 point operating inspection. There are 218 vehicles and 299 pieces of equipment in the City of Bartow’s fleet. Fleet Maintenance also provides extensive fabrication and welding services for most of the city departments. During emergency operations, Fleet Management performs emergency fueling, off-site maintenance, and generator support to sustain critical city functions.
Fleet Maintenance furnishes technical information and prepares specifications for the purchase of new vehicles and equipment for the city. Fleet is also responsible for new vehicle installations as well as fleet disposal.
